BECOME A REFEREE

New Referee Clinic coming 3/26/2023

New Referee Clinic Round 2!

Thurston County is in need of you to become a Referee. We had most of our community's matches covered but still not to the level that is required. Our community was severely impacted by Covid-19 and we are now reliant on you to step up in order to refill the gap that was lost. Last year we were absolutely blessed to add 52 new referees! However, we are still short and are now hosting new clinics in the Thurston County Area.

March 26th from *1p til 5p* at Black Hills High School Turf Field is available now. In addition, there are several other clinics within a Hour's drive to finish the in person training portion. Sign up as soon as you can. You never know when a clinic will get filled up. We are hoping for at least 20 in this March 26th Clinic. As of typing out this email we are currently typing this at 13 out of 20.

You will head over to www.wareferees.org in order to complete the online portion of the training before signing up for the in person section. You may use the following walkthrough of the process to get all set up:

There are several reasons to become a Referee.

1) First and foremost the beautiful game cannot take place without you. Whether it is a state championship or the U10s playing in their first game ever... It should be our responsibility to keep the game safe, fair, and fun.

2) Secondly, you will join a community that is supportive, caring, and wants you to succeed. I myself have played soccer since the age of 5 and began reffing in 2003. What keeps me coming back year after year is the relationships I have built along the way towards bettering myself and others around me. I wouldn't be the person I am today without those moments of growth, reflection, skills I acquired through refereeing.

3) Third is the money that can be made. Whether this is your first job or a side gig, you can choose your own schedule as an independent contractor and do what works best for you. Even better, you can work as many or as few games as you want. I myself used my referee money in college to pay for my food and gas expenses for the month. We are blessed to have a contract with TCYSA and TC United where payments are made after each and every month.

We look forward to working with and supporting you.
